What should a late blooming JC be doing in the lul before Cataclysm?  I only made a JC to work in conjunction with my Xmute spec’d Alchemist.  It was a very wise choice as I made a lot of money off of Red/Yellow Epic cuts alone. Being able to cut those gems was great.  But now with the Saronite Shuffle dry as bones and gems selling like crap I am unsure what to do.

I do not own every epic recipe.  I only have the two most popular of each cut and even those struggle to sell. So right now I am sitting on 60 tokens.  Dragon Eyes’ are selling for 100g each.  Should I pull the trigger and just buy/dump them all?

The completest in me wants to finish buying off the recipes………..the goblin in me says convert the tokens to dragon eye’s because they will probably be worthless come Cata when a new JC token and daily is probably instituted as a way to earn new patterns.

I am sitting on about 100k set aside for Cataclysm.  I don’t want to touch any of that so I am seeking more funds to be able to make the last few frivolous purchases of WOTLK (mechano-hog, etc).

Please Advise!

heh

There is no lack of headsets for the PS3.  I have tried a few of them.   My 1st was a Jabra 125.  While it held a good charge and was comfortable it was horrible at noise cancelling.  Being vigorous with the control sticks?  The mic was picking up all of my thumbed furry.

Next purchase I would read up on all the reviews and not make a hasty decision.

In the meantime I used my Logitech ClearChat from my PC that was strictly used for WoW previously.  While it worked great it was wired.

Many months ago Sony developed and released their own Blue Tooth headset.  It was bundled with a game though.  Now it is available stand alone and has gotten very good reviews.  I just picked one up last night for the glorious price of free (giftcards)!  Review to follow soon.

Nice weather, new house, longer commutes, drunken BBQ’s and general malaise; yep, it’s summer time!  So where does that leave WoW?  Well not much playtime to be honest.

Alpha/Beta

I got a Friends and Family invite so I copied Twan (Warlock) over and finished off 1 of 2 starting zones and capped at 82.  Since then the level cap has been raised to 83 and the whole talent overhaul was posted.  There is a large patch file between me and testing out this content and I hope to get to it next week sometime.

Alts

Through random dailies and professions my Deathknight (Crosstobear) has reached 71 and my Priest (Nawt) is sitting at 76.  My next goal is to get the Priest to 80 and the DK to 75.

Auction House

Just because I got a new iPhone doesn’t mean I see the new AH application to be worth the $3 a month.  I just post the old-fashioned way!  Currently sitting on 113k.  There are still a few vanity pets I would like to buy and the shiny chopper mount.  I also want to have approximately 150k on hand for cataclysm launch so I will continue the grind.

Insane

Yes I am Insane and yes I have already started collecting the materials.  It is going to be a long long long long long long grind.

Stay tuned for more posts tracking my adventures in Azeroth.  They will be split between posts pertaining to each of the 4 categories above (Beta/Alts/Auction/Insane).

When I quit raiding right around the time Sunwell hit I took a 13 month break from WoW.  The drive to raid never came back.  With the lack of any 10 or 25 man progress on my radar I threw myself head first into the achievement system.

The biggest one I wanted?  What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been.  I worked diligently through all the holidays.  Waking up at odd hours to get some tasks done, cursing the Valentine’s Candies, putting out & starting fires, and matting rabbits to name a few.

It was right after Brewfest last year that I decided to go for it.  Something told me to gather all the clothing and I am glad I did.  Being well prepared for disturbing the peace was a good move.  It was arguably one of the bigger pains of Brewfest (though I read that for a short time this year you were able to buy then sell back clothes making this so easy it’s not even funny).  So this year to finish off Brewmaster all it really took was getting 200 tokens for Brew of the Month and some silly drinking & eating.  Some more keg runs and I was able to buy the Pint-Sized Pink Elekk and some other frivolous items (1 and 2).  I had completed 100% of Brewfest, even the non-achievement items/tasks.  When all totalled up I spent 870 Brewfest Prize Token’s all got by legitimate ways.  That’s quite a bit of tedious work.

But when I look back it was a drop in the bucket.  There were many tedious tasks along the way.  I really can’t believe I got this all done as the 1st period for eligibility came up.  As holidays come and go, many people will join my ranks.  I was able to get it done in the 1st week.  I amazed myself.  Being prepared for Brewfest this year to end my long journey was a lofty, will I quit WoW after I get it, type of  goal.  Here I am, on the precipice.

Rough calculations done by Elnia at the Pink Pingtail Inn reveal the value (or as they argue violence) per minute associated with other forms of entertainment.

Here are a few tidbits from the table.

World of Warcraft Subscription $0.013
Tom Clancey Novel $0.016
One NFL Game $0.400
Ultimate Fighting Ticket $66.667

JMTC has an article today that many over look.  Epic gems cost 10k honor at the vendor in Hall of Legends/Champions Hall (PvP vendor).  Ask people to trade in their honor in chat channel for the epic gem you would like to buy and offer them 100g for it.  In the end each honor point for them translates to 1 silver.  They get to offload honor, you get epic gems for 100g a pop.  Win/Win!  I am going to try this for 3 days and report back.  Not sure if I am going to sell the gems on the AH or have them cut into some popular designs.

Coming back from vacation I am literally choking on all the Blizzcon info.  Thankfully:

For all those of you out there who don’t have the time to slog through the 100+ articles we published on BlizzCon 2009 we’ve condensed the events of the past few days into the most important things you need to know.

HIT THE BRICKS!  I’ll have comments later in the week.

MMO Champion has a ton of information on the next expansion right here.  Head over for the full list.  Here is some teasers:

  • The level cap in the next expansion will be slightly lower than expected this time around; 85.
  • Two new races.
  • New race/class combo’s like Gnome Priest.
  • Cataclysm will be the first expansion not to introduce a new continent, instead making use of previously unreleased zones and revamping existing ones.
  • Flying in Azeroth.

Nothing new about any trade skills but I have an idea for one I’ll flesh out later this week.

More spending was in order as I checked out the Wintersgrasp Quartermaster on my 2nd day of patch 3.2

 New Wrist:

New Trinket:

New Ring:

I then re-gemmed both my PVP and PVE sets with the new ruby/zircon’s.

I think I used 5 rubies and 2 zircon’s in total.

I now embark to farm Takk the Leaper over in The Barrens for my 2nd raptor the Leaping Hatchling.  I got my 1st raptor for 40g off of Breanni.  This one will be much much harder.  Wish me luck!

After we got that out of the way it was time to do the new Children’s Week addendum.  I choose to go with the Wolvar pet.  I took my loaner pet on a visit to 5 or so Northrend spots then finally to the Wonderworks in Dalaran.  It was there we played a game of catch with a paper zepplin and I won his heart.

With that errand out of the way it was time to hit up the new Argent Tournament.  I did a few of the new dailies but not all of them.  It was spending time!  I bought the tabard (which has a teleport clicky) and the new upgrade to the Argent Squire.

When you interract with the Squire pet you get this window.

I then mailed my mats over from my alt to make the new Wormhole Generator and Jeeves butler.  Jeeves schematic took me about 70 kills in Stormpeaks to obtain. After that it was crafting time.

Feeling a little low on vanity mounts I spent down some more Champion Seals that got me to 83/100 mounts and 5315 achievement points total.

Still have plenty to spend but not sure what to do.  After the spending spree here is where I stand.

I hope to get back on tonight and try out the new BG and 5 man heroic. All in all a pretty productive foray into the new patch.
