What should a late blooming JC be doing in the lul before Cataclysm?  I only made a JC to work in conjunction with my Xmute spec’d Alchemist.  It was a very wise choice as I made a lot of money off of Red/Yellow Epic cuts alone. Being able to cut those gems was great.  But now with the Saronite Shuffle dry as bones and gems selling like crap I am unsure what to do.

I do not own every epic recipe.  I only have the two most popular of each cut and even those struggle to sell. So right now I am sitting on 60 tokens.  Dragon Eyes’ are selling for 100g each.  Should I pull the trigger and just buy/dump them all?

The completest in me wants to finish buying off the recipes………..the goblin in me says convert the tokens to dragon eye’s because they will probably be worthless come Cata when a new JC token and daily is probably instituted as a way to earn new patterns.

I am sitting on about 100k set aside for Cataclysm.  I don’t want to touch any of that so I am seeking more funds to be able to make the last few frivolous purchases of WOTLK (mechano-hog, etc).

Please Advise!

Nice weather, new house, longer commutes, drunken BBQ’s and general malaise; yep, it’s summer time!  So where does that leave WoW?  Well not much playtime to be honest.

I got a Friends and Family invite so I copied Twan (Warlock) over and finished off 1 of 2 starting zones and capped at 82.  Since then the level cap has been raised to 83 and the whole talent overhaul was posted.  There is a large patch file between me and testing out this content and I hope to get to it next week sometime.

Through random dailies and professions my Deathknight (Crosstobear) has reached 71 and my Priest (Nawt) is sitting at 76.  My next goal is to get the Priest to 80 and the DK to 75.

Auction House

Just because I got a new iPhone doesn’t mean I see the new AH application to be worth the $3 a month.  I just post the old-fashioned way!  Currently sitting on 113k.  There are still a few vanity pets I would like to buy and the shiny chopper mount.  I also want to have approximately 150k on hand for cataclysm launch so I will continue the grind.

Yes I am Insane and yes I have already started collecting the materials.  It is going to be a long long long long long long grind.

Stay tuned for more posts tracking my adventures in Azeroth.  They will be split between posts pertaining to each of the 4 categories above (Beta/Alts/Auction/Insane).

When I quit raiding right around the time Sunwell hit I took a 13 month break from WoW.  The drive to raid never came back.  With the lack of any 10 or 25 man progress on my radar I threw myself head first into the achievement system.

The biggest one I wanted?  What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been.  I worked diligently through all the holidays.  Waking up at odd hours to get some tasks done, cursing the Valentine’s Candies, putting out & starting fires, and matting rabbits to name a few.

It was right after Brewfest last year that I decided to go for it.  Something told me to gather all the clothing and I am glad I did.  Being well prepared for disturbing the peace was a good move.  It was arguably one of the bigger pains of Brewfest (though I read that for a short time this year you were able to buy then sell back clothes making this so easy it’s not even funny).  So this year to finish off Brewmaster all it really took was getting 200 tokens for Brew of the Month and some silly drinking & eating.  Some more keg runs and I was able to buy the Pint-Sized Pink Elekk and some other frivolous items (1 and 2).  I had completed 100% of Brewfest, even the non-achievement items/tasks.  When all totalled up I spent 870 Brewfest Prize Token’s all got by legitimate ways.  That’s quite a bit of tedious work.

But when I look back it was a drop in the bucket.  There were many tedious tasks along the way.  I really can’t believe I got this all done as the 1st period for eligibility came up.  As holidays come and go, many people will join my ranks.  I was able to get it done in the 1st week.  I amazed myself.  Being prepared for Brewfest this year to end my long journey was a lofty, will I quit WoW after I get it, type of  goal.  Here I am, on the precipice.

Rough calculations done by Elnia at the Pink Pingtail Inn reveal the value (or as they argue violence) per minute associated with other forms of entertainment.

Here are a few tidbits from the table.

World of Warcraft Subscription $0.013
Tom Clancey Novel $0.016
One NFL Game $0.400
Ultimate Fighting Ticket $66.667

JMTC has an article today that many over look.  Epic gems cost 10k honor at the vendor in Hall of Legends/Champions Hall (PvP vendor).  Ask people to trade in their honor in chat channel for the epic gem you would like to buy and offer them 100g for it.  In the end each honor point for them translates to 1 silver.  They get to offload honor, you get epic gems for 100g a pop.  Win/Win!  I am going to try this for 3 days and report back.  Not sure if I am going to sell the gems on the AH or have them cut into some popular designs.

MMO Champion has a ton of information on the next expansion right here.  Head over for the full list.  Here is some teasers:

  • The level cap in the next expansion will be slightly lower than expected this time around; 85.
  • Two new races.
  • New race/class combo’s like Gnome Priest.
  • Cataclysm will be the first expansion not to introduce a new continent, instead making use of previously unreleased zones and revamping existing ones.
  • Flying in Azeroth.

Nothing new about any trade skills but I have an idea for one I’ll flesh out later this week.

After we got that out of the way it was time to do the new Children’s Week addendum.  I choose to go with the Wolvar pet.  I took my loaner pet on a visit to 5 or so Northrend spots then finally to the Wonderworks in Dalaran.  It was there we played a game of catch with a paper zepplin and I won his heart.

With that errand out of the way it was time to hit up the new Argent Tournament.  I did a few of the new dailies but not all of them.  It was spending time!  I bought the tabard (which has a teleport clicky) and the new upgrade to the Argent Squire.

When you interract with the Squire pet you get this window.

I then mailed my mats over from my alt to make the new Wormhole Generator and Jeeves butler.  Jeeves schematic took me about 70 kills in Stormpeaks to obtain. After that it was crafting time.

Feeling a little low on vanity mounts I spent down some more Champion Seals that got me to 83/100 mounts and 5315 achievement points total.

Still have plenty to spend but not sure what to do.  After the spending spree here is where I stand.

I hope to get back on tonight and try out the new BG and 5 man heroic. All in all a pretty productive foray into the new patch.

In my last non-auction WoW post I contemplated what to do with my limited playtime.  What reputation to grind?  What achievements to go after?

I contemplated Isle of Quel’Danas for Shattered Sun Offensive reputation but never started.  Without any current direction I am still doing the Argent Tournament dailies (411 seals now) and Wintergrasp (551 stonekeepers shards now).  I threw in some PvP work as I realized I was still short two of the mounts purchasable with marks of honor.  I was swimming in AV tokens so I just had to work on AB and WSG.  4 AB marks got me my Black War Ram and a little more PvP work leaves me 19 AB and 11 WSG marks away from the Black War Steed.  Once I finish that off I will only be logging in to do the Argent Tournament dailies (15mins) and some AH scanning/posting (15mins).

When is patch 3.2?!?!!?!??!?!?!

Yesterday I finished Ogril’a & Netherwing.  Ogril’a got me nothing more then another tabard but I was so close to exalted I stuck with it and finished it off.  Netherwing netted me 6 more mounts which leaves me at 77/100 for Mountain o’ Mounts.  I have 353 champion seal’s stored that I could blow on another 5 mounts to get even closer but I don’t see a point at the moment.  I’d like to see the final patch notes for 3.2 before I spend down any of my seal’s.

So this leaves me without a current direction.  My current playtime will not allow me to raid or even really do any 5 man content so I am looking for a new reputation to grind that involves daily/regular quests or item grind(s).  The only one I can think offhand that I will be able to work on in this manner would be Isle of Quel’Danas for Shattered Sun Offensive reputation.  I came back to WoW right after 2.4 & Sunwell but never did more then five or six runs of the dailies there.

Have a look at my armory and throw me some suggestions on which reputation to hit up next.  Sure I would like to finish off Honor Hold and Lower City and some other Outland reputations but those would require getting a group and I am looking for a solo reputation grind.  Let’s hear it!

p.s. I am still doing the Argent Tournament dailies to get more seal’s so don’t suggest it!

Hit Quit, gain your life back!

I’ve been playing since release with one long break (13 month’s) & one short (3 month) break. While The Burning Crusade expansion drew me further into raiding, Wrath of The Lich King seriously turned me off to raiding. I have done basic 5 mans, limited 10 mans and almost zero 25 man dungeons. It just doesn’t appeal to me anymore to sit in one zone for 3-4 hours at a clip.  With no raiding I have occupied my WoW time by doing:

Got all my WOTLK factions done early so with patch 3.1 I turned all my focus to the Argent Tournament.  It was fun for the 1st couple of weeks but now is a chore.  In that time I have amassed about 330 Champions seals as I am waiting for patch 3.2 rewards to be finalized before I spend them.  When I got bored of the Argent Tournament I went ahead and started doing other factions dailies (namely Ogril’a & Netherwing).  This is basically in an attempt to get closer to Mountain o’ Mounts.

AH Trading

After amassing 75k gold I wondered why I was hording it all.  It was made basically by playing the AH and planning ahead for in game holidays.  People will pay crazy prices for achievement tied items in a Holiday window.  So with it just sitting there I spent a chunk of it on non-combat pets and a few mounts, namely the 16k Traveler’s Tundra Mount.

It looks damn cool and allows the ease of being able to carry other passengers, vendor and repair.  Team this with my MOLL-E  and I can do anything remotely that you would want to do in a city with the exception of interfacing with the Auction House.  This brought me down to 30k gold where I have sat for the last 4 weeks.  The market after 3.1 has been tanking and I’m holding onto my reserves and just watching.

So the grinding of dailies is closing in as I get within 4 days of exalted Netherwing and within 6 days of exa Ogril’a.  I am not investing in the AH and holding reserves back.  Hence, I find less and less reason(s) to log in.  The nice summer weather has certainly been calling me but I haven’t hit that big quit button………………..yet!  Likely Story!
